When we had a similar need (but 240VAC in) we chose to pay a little
more and get switchmode units because they are skinny.

There was a bonus: in a brownout below 68V the Soekris 4801 and the
ADSL modem both stayed running perfectly. The 4801 has a MSI PCI WiFi
card so the laptops worked fine too.

For total design stupidity try these: a skinny little cellphone charger
for a Samsung has the body at right angles to normal, so it is skinny
enough to go in a powerstrip but the alignment blocks the adjacent
socket. Linksys has a wart for their SPA3000 with a slide in plate
carrying the correct pins for local power. It too fits sideways.

Stupidity is contagious.
