Hi David,

the most reliable TFTP server I know of is tftpd-hpa. Runs from a *BSD
or Linux box though, but it has never let me down, and you also don't
need to pass all kinds of bizarre options as with some of the other
implementations.

Probably worth giving a try, if you're planning to do more net-booting
in the future.
