Thx ... I'll try Debian as the embedded child on a CF /

I agree with your Ubuntu observation - it's perfect as a Desktop and I
installed the Dapper 6.06 LTS on a Soekris 5501+ 20GB  HDD  as web server /
both works as a dream.
