hi bent, when mounting a dev u can pass a few parameters , one of them is -o async or -o sync which tells whether the kernel will i/o to the device straight ahead or buffer in memory first (speed varies dramatically). not sure what's linux kernel default, i guess async? nor how the hdparm test neither! my 0.1p
