Besides the "normal" usage of a 5501 like Firewall etc, I am currently
testing to use the 5501 as a VDR.
So far everything works perfectly but there are three question I like to
get at least addressed:
1. ACPI
The net5501 does currently not support ACPI. Are there any plans or
ideas to get this into the BIOS?

2. Wake-On-Lan
As a fallback option I was thinking on WOL. The VIA Ethernet supports
this. But the BIOS seems to ignore it until the OS (here Debian) starts.
The basic power consumption - OS halted - in the VDR setup is approx.
11W. This is a bit too high to accept it as a Standby mode. Any ideas on
this?

3. LOM
I got the 5501 from Wim - the famous Belgium distributor. He put a basic
information sheet into the box where he said, that entering three
plus-signs "+++" one "+" per second would enter the BIOS mode. I am
pretty experienced on SUNs LOM Feature, so I guess the same function
here. Unfortunately this seems not to work. BIOS is at 1.32i.

I know that the net5501 is mainly manufactured for other purposes. But
the results from the VDR setup are really exciting so I - and several
others I know of - would like to use this setup.

Thanks for any thoughts and ideas.

Jochen
