If you have a AP9617 in the unit, you can walk the PowerNet-MIB and use 
snmpget(1) to poll it with a cron-job.

Otherwise, use upsd(8) from OpenBSD ports and poll it via the serial port 
if your 4801 has serial access (maybe external USB ucom(4))
