I know the standard reply by Soekris is "use SanDisk" but if I was using compact flash cards that work just fine with earlier net5501 hardware, in my mind, these should ALWAYS work with any net5501 hardware.
Whatever the recent hardware changes were, they render my Transcend cards completely useless. The cards are not being detected. If this is a matter of sending a CF to Soekris to evaluate/use, I would be more than happy to supply one. Otherwise, I guess I'm stuck using Sandisk cards. The reason I want to use the Transcend cards is they are industrial cards rated for a wider temperature range. I couldn't find technical information on the Sandisk page for a majority of their CF cards (other than speed). No mention of writes or temperature range. It's quite possible that the Sandisk cards are more than adequate.
