The VPN1411 data sheet says it is a Hi/fn 7955 chip, so 0x13A3 and 0x0020 for Vendor and Device, respectively. That is from http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendor_details.php?id=123, I don't have a 1411. I'm wondering about that 1382 vendor ID you show. That belongs to a sound/audio chip manufacturer. If you don't have a sound card, then the 1411's PCI ID is getting mangled, 1382 vs 13A3 would be two bits not being driven high. And that vendor has no device 0020 listed, but 0020 matches the 7955 device ID. And all those FFs look suspicious. Try reseating the VPN1411 if you haven't already. Especially if it shipped installed and you haven't yet. If you have other Mini-PCI devices or another system with a Mini-PCI slot, you could try swapping around to isolate the problem. Use the above web site to find the predicted IDs. Two stuck low bits could be either the 1411 or 5501. Excluding slot 0:17, your list matches my 5501 with no cards. ----------------------------- Hello, thanks for useful infos, Jed. Strange behavior: after some restarts identification is: 0:17:0 1380 0020 FFFFFFFF FFFF FFFF FF FF FF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF In FreeBSD 6.2: #dmesg pci0: <unknown> at device 17.0 (no driver attached) #pciconf -lv [EMAIL PROTECTED]:17:0: class=0xffffff card=0x00000000 chip=0xffffffff rev=0xff hdr=0x7f But my question is still the same ;-) : Is this identification normal? On Monday (11/3) I try vpn 1411 in different routerboard and different mini-pci (wifi modul) in my net5501.
