i had to boot my M$ laptop with a Ubuntu stick, reformat the /boot
partition, make it bigger, re-run grub and reboot...all that under
chroot. it has now booted with debian...! i just need to get a 3.3V
pci card so i can connect my internet usb stick and hardrive and
...... done!
