Hello list,

I'd like to start using net5501 as a base for the devices produced by
our company. Before doing this I want to make sure that GPIOs work
properly with Linux. I found that many people report success working
with net4501/4801 GPIOs. But the net5501 uses different hardware -
CS5536 chip. I could not find any information about using its GPIOs.

I have handy a different mainboard with the same CS5536 companion chip.
I've installed Archlinux (2.6.28.1). The driver - cs5535_gpio is loaded
and I can see the devices /dev/cs5355_gpioX. I can read GPIOs and get
strings like "0IoabTPdnxL". I've looked into the driver's code to
understand how to set I/O, Open drain etc. Trying to do something
simple, like changing from "input" to "output" with e.g. "1iOabtpdnxH"
has no effect (the subsequent reading as well as direct measurement show
no difference).

Could somebody give me a direction?

Thanks,
Sergey
