I'm trying to install Debian Squeeze on a Net5501. I'm doing a PXE boot and
it's reading the pxelinux.0 file from my iMac (running OS X 10.6.6) and once
PXE starts, I get the usual 15-column wide text issue, then I hit <enter> to
boot and it starts booting. Here's what I get from Minicom (the newline
positions may be off, Minicom didn't show them all):

And after that -- nothing.
I found an email on this list that had a similar problem
(<http://lists.soekris.com/pipermail/soekris-tech/2010-January/016344.html>),
and it was suggested he upgrade from 1.33 to 1.33c to solve the problem. I
tried upgrading to 1.33c. (It wasn't easy, had to reset to a 19200 baud and
re-send the file many times.)
Once I got 1.33c in, instead of booting to PXE, I got a message that came up
ONLY in the 1st column, printing from bottom to top of the screen, about
booting BSD. Even when I pulled out my CAT5 cable from the box, it did that.
I don't know what the deal is, but that makes 1.33c unusable, since it's trying
to boot BSD and freezes during boot.
Also in that thread it's mentioned that this is where control is passed to the
drive or RAM drive.
Could I be getting this error because I'm using a type of flash RAM that's not
compatible?
I can't figure out what is going on and what's failing. Several years ago I
set up a couple Soekris boxes and had no trouble making a PXE boot and getting
Debian installed, but this time I'm stumbling over a lot of glitches and this
one leaves me stumped.
Any help on this is appreciated!
Hal
