It's not that simple.... I like the comBIOS like it is now, small, simple and compact, I know it very well and can quickly port it to new hardware. Once there are more people on it I wouldn't know the code like now and couldn't port it quickly, and you can't really run a business relying on voluntaring programmers.... I already had one programmer jump ship in the middle of doing code for the net6501, and he was actually paid.... And the tech docs needed for porting to new hardware are all under NDA, complicating things. Just look at coreboot, basically supporting just old hardware. And there aren't really very many with the skill set needed to do BIOS work in x86 assembler.
