Hello all, I want to hook up a 3.5" Samsung HD204UI hdd to the 12/5V internal power connector of the net5501. This seems to work fine. However, I do need to know whether I potentially can damage the board by doing that.
Obviously, the hdd is build to work at a higher ampere than the 1A supplied by the connector. Nonetheless, while starting up slower than normal, it starts fast enough for the OS to recognize it in time. However, earlier experiences have shown that hooking up an unsufficient power supply (i.e. build to supply less ampere) to a device heats up the power supply and eventually breaks it down all together. Therefore the question: by connecting the 3.5" hdd to the internal power supply of the net5501 board, do I run the risk of the above also happening to the board? I don't care too much about external power supply (12V, 3A). Kind regards, Maarten _______________________________________________ Soekris-tech mailing list [email protected] http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
