As already said, I am pretty sure as well that you get garbage because there is a serial speed mismatch.
Check the Syslinux configuration file and either - change it in Syslinux (you will need to change it once for Syslinux itself -- SERIAL option -- and once for the Linux kernel -- APPEND option) - or set the speed of the net6501 accordingly (Most of the time default speed is 9600, so just setting your Soekris board to that speed would be a good guess) I have not tested Squeeze myself, but I am running happily Debian Wheezy on mine (Installed through PXE though as I found this easier than fiddling with USB keys) -- Philippe On 03/03/12 11:25, Eric F wrote: > Hello, > > First there is something strange : I insert a bootable Sandisk Cruizer > USB key, but when plug my net6501-30, it says "No Boot device available, > enter monitor.". > > Is it normal ? > > I've tried to install Debian Squeeze (downloaded a file especially done > to install on USB key. > When I type "boot 81" I see "ISYSLINUX 4.02 debian-20101014 EDD > Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H.
