Would be nice to know tolerances, charger chipset, and all, but the
manual does specify an 8.4v NiMH battery.  Assuming the most simple
assumptions, it's probably designed for one of the 9v/PP3 NiMH
batteries with a 2-pin molex adapter.  Not a lot of capacity (~200mAh)
but should be nice for small (~10 minute) bumps.

You could go with a multi-cell pack (like
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/HHR-210AB18F7/P017-F071-ND/271970)
but charging them without a thermal sensor would be difficult.
