I'm running Debian 8 "Jessie" on a net6501-70 with a lan1841. I'm currently evaluating it as a firewall/router/switch (eth0 = wan, eth1-7 = lan). I haven't tested it with a few OpenVPN clients yet but on paper it looks like it should do fine with the load. Install was easy booting off a USB drive net install image. The only trick was making sure the installer stayed in text mode instead of graphical on the console output. This is the boot line I used to make that work: install vga=normal fb=false DEBIAN_FRONTEND=text console=ttyS0,19200n8 scott
