Hello all,

I believe the answer to my question is yes. But, I would like some
verification on this to prevent me from spending time on a solution that
will not work! :)

I am developing a video conference app that will run on Windows XP. I am
required to support a "Standard" communication, such that, a 3rd party
application could connect to my app and have a conference.

My research has lead me to believe that SIP and RTP is what I should use.

I have a RTP library (jrtplib) working with my software, and now need a SIP
library to initiate a conference.

Initially when I found Sofia-SIP I thought it was exactly what I am looking
for. A library that implements SIP only. I believe this is the case still,
but I am running into concepts and design issues that I am currently lacking
knowledge of and am unable to implement this library to fit my app's needs.
Because of this lack of understanding need to spend time to expand my
knowledge (which is a great thing), but I need assurance that I am spending
my time wisely.

My application is develop using VS C++ 2005 (dialog based). I need Sofia-SIP
to take information provide connect with remote application to set up
conference (User location, User availability, User capabilities, Session
Setup, Session management).

User location: ? (for now I am working on a LAN, but will in the future,
this will change.

User availability: is remote app already in a conference.

User capabilities: is audio and video available and what compression format
is used for audio/video.

Session Setup: configure RTP connection

Session management: Manage the session

Please tell me if I am off base on my thought and whether Sofia-SIP is what
I need? Any correction or suggestion is very much welcome.

Thank you for your time.

David
