Hi all,

I know this is OT for the group, but possibly of interest.

I was wondering if anyone here has used the Sony ICF-SW7600 receiver. It is
selling on ebay for less that $100 and features 150 Khz to 30 Mhz, USB and
LSB reception and claims to use a quadrature detector.

It has a PLL vfo though, probably to minimize power consumption, DSS chips
use alot of power.

I was unaware of any consumer class receiver that used quadrature
detection, and happened to run across it accidently in a google search.

I downloaded the Service Manual, it looks interesting, but not much info is
given on the quadrature detector aspect of the receiver.

It appears to have the entire quadrature detector in a single chip, which
appears to be an ASIC. The chip has a Sony part number, and you can order
it. But, no other information is given on the chip.

The chip might be of interest to the group, hopefully this message is not
too far off-topic.
