many thanks for your suggestions about AM demod from I/Q signals!
It seems to be a very interesting subject.
Some ask for providing details:
The "HDR-2005" (Hardware Defined Radio ;-) is based on a SDR but only
realized with hardware. The core of the receiver is a double balanced
quadratur demodulator, similar the QSD from Gerald Youngblood AC5OG.

After the QSD and a preamp follows an active polyphasefilter, OP for
sum or diff of the I/Q signals, a LPF/SCAF and a AF Amp. 
Please look at FILES/HDR2005. There are a block diagram and a short
description.
My HDR-2005 is a homebrew receiver only for my privat pleasure.
