In the area I live right now, I have high voltage lines (500KV) on
three sides about a 1/8 to 1/4 mile away.

The weird thing is I get practically no signals on 40 meters, and
when I do they are very weak. I have several receivers to listen with
a SR-40, TS-940, TS-930, TS-830, FT-817, and a TenTec Corsair, it's
the same with all the radios. 80M, 20M is teaming with signals and
low noise. I have used a Delta Loop, and a Random wire antenna, with
no difference other than noise.

Has anyone encountered anything so weird?

For a while I thought my SR-40 was not working, until I tried to
transmit 2 watts into a dummy load, which I could pick up on the SR-40.

I fail to see why doing the same thing over and over and getting the
same results every time is insanity: I've almost proved it isn't;
only a few more tests now and I'm sure results will differ this time ...
