Good point. Would it matter if the IF is at, say, 30 kHz or 455 kHz? Why not sample the often used 455 kHz IF directly? After all, the required BW is just about 10 kHz. Racal used 30 kHz because they could use a cheap 24-bit audio codec for the A/D conversion.
