Many are wanting a SDR that can operate at 28MHz, the SR-4 has a better mixer but the clock circuitry will not reach 28MHz. The SR-5 has a clock that can easily reach 28MHz but has a mixer with higher noise.
Tony here is a small idea to improve the sensitivity of the SR-6 if there is going to be one. Use 4 Fet switches like the SR-40 into 4 caps and differential feed into the op-amps. Use the clock design of the SR-5, with a small addition. Add a 1:4 multiplexer that uses the two generated Quadrature as the address of the multiplexer, the four outputs of the mux will be 4 Quadrature signals each 90 degrees from the previous and 25% duty cycle. The result a 1X oscillator with a 4 FET higher sensitivity detector at the additional cost of $.30, it would have a better chance of working at 10 meters This would result in the best of both designs. Of course this could also be used in a homemade unit. I call this the "Mongo" detector and there will be a million dollar fee to use this improvement, or a Beta sample, whichever suits you.
