Hello.

I am working on making a Software Radio. I have currently written the algos and software in Visual Basic 6 for AM and FM reception.

I am using Tayloe's Detector, as given in, "Software Defined Radio for the Masses" by Gerald Youngblood as the RF front end, sending a 48khz signal for digitization to the soundcard.

I am making this as an Academic Project for my final year degree project.

I want to make this into a transmitter as well. My questions are:

1) Which modulation scheme should i use?
2) What will the range be(i dont mind if its not far though, anything from 5 to 10 meters of ground distance is sufficent)
3) What modifications will i have to make in the software, hardware?
4) How do i know which channels i am sending the signal on?
5) What sort of Antennas and RF end be needed at both ends?
6) Any websites/links that could help me acheive this?

I am going to present Broadcast reception as well as show how a Software Radio at both ends be used as a two way communication. Thus i dont need the two radios to communicate very far. 5-10 meters is more than enough i guess.

I hope you could help me. Sorry for the long mail. I have been reading alot of messages on the groups but i didnt find anything on this.

Thank you all!

Regards,

Farhan
