Winrad Zap And AFC
I was checking out the features in the WR 123b28 and the Zap quickly moves
the tone to center and the AFC gradually moves the signal over onto center. I
do not notice then any undesirable behavior with my slow CPU on WIN 98. I do
know that these features are nice. The center frequency of 550 is stable. The
snap to cursor for use in the CW pass band window is also a nice feature.
So I have no issues at present with Winrad, if anything shows up I will let
you know. Some are using the 0 to 24 kHz method for SDR and thus the center
frequency is +12 kHz upband and the LO IN at 0 Hz on the spectrum, I am gald
however that you are using the I/Q stereo method and the LO IN is in the center
of the display. In the previous sort of software using the non stereo method
(which is what DRM uses) some of that software has no in software means to tune
the cursor across the display, your software however does. DRM does have an
auto seek function for its cursor which is nice and it can be snapped to
frequency but I have seen some softwares that have no tuning except via the
software VFO to the external hardware.
CIAO uses both the stereo and non stereo method but in the non stereo method
there is still tuning across the spectrum in the software in the Real and USBrx
modes.
Anyways all is well with the Zap on this end, maybe some folk need to use a
fast degragmentor daily to remove hard drive fragments. A few hours on line
and you can have 1200 fragments on the hard drive. Diskeeper Lite removes them
fast. Fragments sort of mess up SRD on a slow CPU.
