 Jerry,

the reason is quite simple. In the past I have been bitten many
times by reports about my other programs (mainly Spectran) reporting
malfunctions, problems, etc. and after some investigations it turned
out that the guy was running an old and obsolete version of the
program, and the errors reported were already fixed in a more recent
release....

So I decided that with Winrad everybody should run the latest version,
and the only way to do this is to impose an expiration date to each
version. When I will be fairly confident that the majority of bugs
will have been eliminated from Winrad, then I will lift that time
limit, releasing an expiration-less version. But unfortunately there
are still some bugs in Winrad, so for the time being I prefer that
everybody is running the latest version, with the exception of those
who have Windows 98, and hence are forced to stay with the latest
version that runs under Win98.
