Alan,

You can legitimately get two of any chip available for sampling free. I
have confirmed this with G3ZDM who was one of the architects of the scheme.
Amateurs are specifically "within scope" and part of the sampling schemes
intended audience. Chips for the UK are shipped from Ireland or the
Netherlands. The only person I know of who had problems used a "disposable"
e-mail address, (I think Yahoo and Hotmail are excluded, I would hope that
QSL.NET would work OK.)

Now, but any design that has been properly tested is bound to be out of date

when published.

How many of these chips can an amateur get free?
I've not tried but I've heard AD seem a little reluctant to send overseas.

Anyway this is the Softrock group, Tony's simple project uses /4 and /8
effectively. We can then add bells and whistles as we see fit. I'm not sure
it needs DDS the nice and simple Si570 will give suitable steps. Now, that
is fairly up to date, although something better may well have been released!
