Roland,

I have yet to do a full evaluation against my old FT707 but the HF bands are a
bit flat at present. On LF and MF its about as sensitive as the FT707. When
demoing a board at the local radio club (Manchester England) we pulled in a
spanish station on 80 mtrs using a meter long audio lead as the antenna.

Main issue with portable use is many laptops cards don't have good stero line
in. My IBM T41 is very poor even on the mini dock. Probably need something like
a USB soundblaster, which was recomended by G8JCF for his software.

Subject: [soft_radio] How useful is the Elektor may 2007 SDR

I am inteterested in the Elektor may 2007 SDR receiver
but am unclear about it's usefulness.

I understand it has a lot of useful software
possibilities but a weak spot is a low sensitivity.
The antenna must have some amount of length that is a
  practicalk hindrance.

Can this receiver be used for hamlistening for
instance? And for advanced DX-listening? Can I use it
for broadcast listening when I am travelling?

I would like to hear your experience.

  Roland Andersson
