Independent Side Band.

Used a lot by short wave feeder transmitters until the 80's, and
previously by telephone companies in international links before
satellite links became sort of a popular commodity,

I remember listening the ID of Tropical Telephone and Telegraph Company
on my grandma's radio when I was a kid in the 60's.

They used a partially supressed carrier (somehow understandable on a
short wave AM radio). I also remember listening to VOA
on ons sideband and AFRTS on the other some time later, when I was
already a ham on my father's HRO-60.

I have seen no software capable of generating it so far. Actually, it
would require two sideband generators. I am not sure if a single sound
card could
actuallydo it.

ISB has not been usual among hams, but could be interesting. Once I read
a proposal for using SSTV on one sideband and audio on the other,
but have heard noone doing that.
