You'd better ask Ville Syrjälä or search the directfb-dev archives. Please post your findings here. I don't mind a kernel patch either; I already have added one printk() to tell vdr if the computer was powered up by the remote control unit and if the display should be powered on (http://www.iki.fi/~msmakela/software/vdr/#relay).
