Of course I would suggest/prefer another way :-) .
Can you try to
a. uncomment "//XMapRaised (dpy, win);" just below the reparent call, or
b. (preferred way) to handle ReparentNotify event like MapNotify in
ProcessEvents():
case ReparentNotify:
case MapNotify:
