I also noticed a less stable picture when I recently upgraded my kernel.
I am currently running 2.6.22.  Softdevice output shows significant
numbers of repeated and dropped frames.  They are noticeable while
watching.

Good question.  I did the full memory patch only: I did not think the
other patches apply any more, but could well be wrong.
