Symptom: Very dark pixels (probably #000000) are transparent, thus the underlying desktop "shines" through. The effect is particularly visible if the mplayer plugin is used to play a very dark i.e. AVI: The current TV-frame is frozen and mplayer (mplay.sh) outputs "on top" of the frozen frame. If the frozen frame has is bright and the mplayer movie has very dark pixels or areas, the frozen frame clearly breaks through.
