The 70% of the full price for an update is not a rumor, I got that in an official mail from my reseller a month ago. They say this will be effective from February 2013.
I haven't heard of the general price increase but wouldn't be surprised - I guess it's more the question of "when" than "if". And Softimage XSI is really worth every penny, it used to cost 70,000 or something ;-) Hey, just kidding anyway. I'm out of the loop already.
