Hi list, I had to deal with some Maya -> export import problems, one of them was hard edges.
Is there any way to get Maya hard edges info into Softimage? I didn't have time to investigate this, and didn't have a clue either, so I opted for change our workflow to disconnecting the edges in Maya instead of using hard edges. This way they will be easily selectable with border edges filter in SI. Filter points and we have now hard edges without too much work. It worked fine but now I wonder if there was a better, smooth and smarter way to do this. With FBX I can select the normal cluster, and it will give me the samples that are "hard". We don't have a sample to edge function in SI, and the scripts floating around select the edges even if only 1 sample is contained so you still I need to unselect a lot of unwanted edges. With Crosswalk I have a MayaNormal cluster but I'm not sure how to use that info. Is there any tool out there for this? M.Yara
