Yes - this first stage was just to get the rendering framework in place. Now we get to integrate it into the current branch (as you can imagine, Jerome is very excited by the thought of all this integration work) - then we will move onto further feature implementation. The primary purpose of the rendering work was to support production data, so expect to see alembic, FBX etc soon.
This demo was really to show a few of the key features: thousands of shadow casting lights, tons of objects, deferred rendering/post-effects, as well to explain the design behind it. Most people seem to like the teapots :) Our expectations are to have this implemented in the next release, which is targeted for the end of November - there are a few other things we will show next week that should get people excited as well.
