Hi, Thanks for your comments :) remember running around in my
rollerblades starting renders around the building after work hours,
resulting in a few complaints, but it was fun :)
Wow yeah Metamesh with the horse
Remembered using it, us then all using it gave me the impression that it
was included, but using Sumatra at first felt like a regression for just
that :) and didn't know Lightwave were the first at implementing
something of the sorts, hum..
So subd's came at 1.5 .. at least it happened pretty early (and late at
the same time)
<</... I'm sure everybody remembers Mr Petit at sumatra beta times
saying the SCM in XSI would have made everybody stop using anything but
nurbs :P/>>
Lllol!! Don't think the surface continuity manager is even there anymore. :)
And wish we could as easily storm in some people's offices about certain
things today. :p

Yep, those.
Riccardo Russi did a lot of stuff for PT back then (both models are
his I think).

Hey Jason,
Thanks for the pics, that was around the time I started on SI|3D
back then, and I remember being blown away by it. It's nice
seeing it again.
Yeah PT was the one introducing subDs (I was in Milan at the time
and met a few of the people involved, I'm sure everybody who
remembers the red CDs remembers the horse head too :) ), but I
don't think it was ever integrated, just around the yellow CD
times you could buy Soft with it bundled, same for the green CD.
I think it was called metamesh extreme.
Those that came from LW5 at the time (tab to subdivide with
smooth spline display) were in tears for the joy.
XSI introduced SDS, both C-C and D-S at 1.5 though if I remember
right, not 2 (which was the FX tree + hair big deal release, and
the move to USB dongle licensing hell, that's when I started
working for Avid), 1.0 was nurbs only though, and again I'm sure
everybody remembers Mr Petit at sumatra beta times saying the SCM
in XSI would have made everybody stop using anything but nurbs :P.
It's amazing how that project actually STILL looks good so many
years later.
