In our case, we have to make our own backup system anyway, regardless of what Soft is doing, simply because we want that level of control, since we want our backups to be appropriate the assets or shots they pertain to.

True, maybe not ideal, but making your own backup system is a good thought. Cheers.

Set the Scene Backups value to 0 in your prefs? We have the same
problem here actually. Soft just insists on creating a Backup
directory if a backup is generated. It has to put it somewhere, so
I guess the only way to stop it is to not have it generate backups
in the first place, and create your backup system instead.

Hmm I thought I got this to work last night.. But if I change the
Backup key, it makes the new dir, but still creates a 'Backup'
dir and saves a backup in there.. Can I stop that?

Ah whoops my fault, I saw the Autodesk folder and assumed it
had moved there as there was some Softimage stuff inside!

            Hi there,

I'm trying to fit Softimage into our pipeline nicely and
I think the only folder that I cannot change is
            '/Backup' ...
Everything else that needs to be saved out is easy to
change in the preferences/when saving/when rendering...
            Simulation/Render Pictures etc.

            Anyone have any idea?

This doesn't seem to apply any more, 2013 doesn't ahve
            these keys.. :
