Unfortunately no application I tried so far (inkscape, scribus, karbon, libreoffice, xfig) had a checkbox for that. I guess they are using the same library for saving eps anyway :/

I am totally freaking about that one....
I will gladly accept any dirty hack/workaround/whatever as long as it avoids 
Illustrator and Windows.
