Hi all. I'm having to fake some sort of motion blur on my volume render
using strands, which is working nicely and is sufficient for my needs.

However, by their nature, my strand trails only flow backwards giving me a
backwards-only blur and I need to match this look on some regular,
hard-surface renders (without using post-blur) so I need a blur which goes
from full blur at the tail to none at the head (on the frame).

>From my tests it seems impossible and there's probably a very good reason
for it, but I'll have to admit I was surprised I couldn't achieve this
using a cocktail of shutter offset, 'end on frame' etc. etc.

Any suggestions? Doable?

Also, has anyone succeeded in getting the volume shader's motion
framebuffer to spit out anything usable? I saw an old thread that mentions
rescaling the PointVelocity of the particles in ICE first and while it
improved the data I did get out, it was patchy as hell.
