@Adrian - that's a pretty neat way of extracting the data :)

@Andy @Sam @Eric

Voxels sounds a good option as long as you could get accurate/defined meshes
as an end result.

Nice idea Andy - Eric! - do you think you can clone yourself anytime soon?

I am very curious as to how much work/time/feasibility would be involved in
doing that Eric ? [Perhaps mail me off list when you can find the time!]

Extracted from Bens Modo forum Link - will try Segment as you can download
for free and will have a play with Osirix, the guy on this list had success
using some of these tools and he was using XSI at the time:

There are a bunch of tools to convert scan data to meshes. I've used OsiriX
and Segment http://medviso.com/products/segment/ with success. Some others
are:
http://code.google.com/p/devide/
http://svn.softwarepublico.gov.br/trac/invesalius
http://www.slicer.org/slicerWiki/index.php/Main_Page

Thanks for all the feedback ;)

D.

Subject: Re: Ultra sound or MRI scan formats to common 3D formats?

I had considered suggesting to Eric Mootz that he look at making a DICOM
loader/reader for polygonizer and/or emFluid but concluded there wasn't
enough community interest for me to bother him with the request. Now I think
that might not be the case.

Are there enough of us out there to justify bugging the poor overworked
genius for that as a possible feature?=
