there are no cases when turn offing areo in XSI fixes something we only said that briefly with XSI 6.0 when rectangle select was broken with the then-new Vista. That was fixed. Areo needs to be on because the clipping region is wrong with opengl windows otherwise. it's bizzare drive-side issue they dont' seem to care about. Actually it's not about areo or the look of win7, the key is that desktop compositing has to be on. you could turn off the special effects individually
