Hi, in AE the best plug-in for DOF is from FRISCHLUFT. It's called LENSCARE. It comes out with two plugins, which one is "Depth Of Field" actually.
So, you render you DOF sequence or image out from Softimage. Import into AE (example with 2 layers): 1 layer (OFF visibility): DOF SEQ 2 layer ON: (composition with DIFFUSE, shadows, ao, etc, mixed togheter) Apply DepthOfField Frischluft to Layer 2, and set the plug-in to point at the layer with the DOF sequence. This is the enough basic procedure, because of course, up to your scene, maybe you need to split objects and so on. But for many cases it works pretty good. You can do almost the same with the CAMERA LENS BLUR effect already inside AE, instead of using the one from Frischluft, the procedure it's pratically the same, but it's damn slow. But you could try it, first, to see how it works. 2013/8/13 Nancy Jacobs <[email protected]> > Hi, > > Can anyone point me to a book or any other current information about depth > compositing (the output Softimage is capable of) in After Effects?
