You can create NURBS Curves and surfaces of degree 1 (Linear) and/or degree 3
(Cubic) interpolation. You can accomplish both from the UI and script.

To create a NURBS Curve from UI:
Model > [Create] Curve > Draw Cubic by CVs
Model > [Create] Curve > Draw Cubic by Bezier-Knot Points
Model > [Create] Curve > Draw Cubic by Knot Points
Model > [Create] Curve > Draw Linear

Curves extracted from a Surface will be of the same degree as the surface it
was extracted from.

NURBS Surfaces are created from NURBS Curves and will use the same
interpolation. For example, if you create a NURBS Net from a Linear NURBS
Curve and a Cubic NURBS Curve, the resulting surface will be Linear in U and
Cubic in V (or vice versa).

Some tools for generating curves and surfaces will give you the option to
change the degree of curves/surfaces at time of creation. To change the degree
and/or interpolation outside of those cases, use the Fit, Clean, and
Reparameterize tools.

See the SDK docs on creating NURBS Curves and surfaces from code. The curve
class is “NURBSCurveList”, and the surface class is “NURBSSurfaceMesh”.

Subject: different types of nurb surfaces

Hey!

the last days I was working in maya and now I try to port things to softimage.
one thing I noticed was, that si doesn't has different types of nurbs degrees
when creating.
Is it possible to to create different types of surfaces (linear (surface
degree1) or cubic (suface degree 3)) via script?
I need to get rid of in between points...

Thanks!

Andreas
