Plugins compiled against 2014 SDKs are supposed to work only in Soft 2014 and not in earlier versions. Although Soft 2014 should be able to load plugins compiled against earlier version like 2013. This is backward compatibility.

Although when it comes to SDK compatility, I would always compile against the SDK for the target Soft version, as there can be a host of issues that might go wrong from SDK to SDK. It is always a good idea to recompile your plugins with SDK for the version of Soft that you are targeting.
