Hi, thanks for the reply. We finally acquired SpeedTree at my workplace, and
now we´re exporting alembic files for 3Ds Max and Softimage. Though the alembic
file on 3Ds Max import only works once. Then, it gets broken, as it fails to
load animation the next time the file opens. It just stays sitting there and
shows no frame to frame animation, nor it animates.
On the Softimage side, almebic files from speedtree sends an unrecognizable UV
set per groups that intertwain with each other, and thus I cannot recreate the
shader network originally sent from SpeedTree. Other than that, I haven´t saved
and re-open the scene to see if animation was lost.

If anyone is within these same tasks around, please let me know some
suggestions for your workflow
regarding alembic file import / render on your stations.

Thanks.
David R.

Hi David,

Exocortex Crate ( http://exocortex.com/alembic ) , which is what
Helge's project became, supports SpeedTree Alembic files, we worked
with SpeedTree specifically to ensure that this worked.  It should
import correctly into Softimage and if there are any issues, just give
us a shout.

Best regards,
Ben Houston
