Is it me or Referenced Models and Expressions don't go along well?

I was showing a simple hair cartoon hair I'm playing with to a friend:
http://screencast.com/t/LySOCuUd to show him how cool models are in
Softimage, working as a namespace, where if you have "this_model"
references, when you duplicate the model, the sub-rig stills work.

But then I had an idea, conver the model to Referenced, to instead of
Branch-selecting the model and duplicating it, just populate referenced
models of the same model, instead.
Problem: Those Custom Parameters you see on the vid, at the top right
corner don't work anymore!
When I inspect the Operators expressions in each model, the expressions are
gone!

I know I've saved the model with the expressions in place.

On the other hand the Waving of the hairblades was done in ICE and works
just fine and dandy... :/

PS: Ah! just before sending this I did a little test.
All of the failing expression are beucase I do something like:
"this_model.Controller.CustomeParemeter.Bend + Model.Master.Controller.
CustomeParemeter.Bend". So I have a local control value in the model and an
outside value that will affect all the referenced models.
When I delete the outside reference and stick to a simpler expression
("this_model.Controller.CustomeParemeter.Bend") the icon turn into . And
the imported Reference Model works.

I guess I'll have to stick with ICE for referencing things outside the
reference model.

Cheers
