Dear Steven, C4D is by FAR the most stable program in the industry. No joke. It ONLY crashes because of 3rd party related issues (plugins, drivers and OS) and graphics drivers is the most common reason.
I'm not overselling C4D's stability here. If it "crashed all the time" it's probably something else. I have been using C4D on a Mac, and the only crashes I get is with very early alpha and beta versions. Did you submit the crash report? If you did, and included an email, I may be able to track it for you. No promises though.
