Programmers can be artists too. Hell... you could say programming is an art :)
Didn't AD's Corey Mogk write an article suggesting that all parts of the company should be involved in designing the UX experience? I think he included the marketing department in that. Can't find the link unfortunately, but I remember thinking at the time that that was a bad road to go down.
