Hey Chris!

if you have access to emTopolizer2...Eric has an importer for several formats like these (from his documentation) http://www.mootzoid.com/learning/emTopolizer/documentation/v_emTopolizer2):

The supported particle cache file formats (when*reading*):

 * *".bgeo"*(Houdini, prior to version 12).
 * *".bhclassic"*(Houdini, prior to version 12).
 * *".geo"*(Houdini, prior to version 12).
 * *".hclassic"*(Houdini, prior to version 12).
 * *".pdb32"*(Maya).
 * *".pdb64"*(Maya).
 * *".mc"*(3ds max / Maya).
 * *".ptc"*(RenderMan).
 * *".bin"*(RealFlow particle format).
 * *".pts"*(3D Points File).
 * *".ptf"*(Maya).
 * *".itbl"*(Houdini).
 * *".atbl"*(Houdini).

I used the PTS import and cached the points a normal ICE cache for this video:

Hi All,
I have a very large point cloud file in .xyz format. I've imported these in the past no problem using the import_xyz_Points python script. But the file I'm trying to import was, well the original was 200million points, which I've managed to filter down to 20 Million using Cloud Compare. I guess I could leave it over night to see what happens, but after an hour it hadn't got to 1% imported. So I was wondering if there's a better workflow than simply importing the whole file in one go?

Thanks
Chris
