Thanks for looking at this Sven,
It's a peculiar combination of factors that eventually lead to the strange
render glitch in MentalRay.
At least I know what causes it so I have a number of workarounds now, or at
least I know what to do to avoid it happening.
I'm rather glad it wasn't just me!
